Detail

Well, this quilt taught me quite a bit. Because the top is made of lots of tiny pieces, it was very delicate and gave me a bit of trouble. But in the end, it was all good.
However, I have come to the conclusion that I need not rush to complete a quilt every week. In some cases, a week is all the time I need to complete a quilt I'm proud of. But sometimes, as with this quilt, it takes longer. And life intrudes, doesn't it? But I know I'm in the groove, I'm on a roll, I'm addicted to the solving-the-design-puzzle thing, and am committed to just keep on making art, whether it takes a week or longer.

This was part of the object in setting myself this goal: get used to working on art regularly, not just when I had time and a good idea sprang to mind. I'm in the zone to think about the next piece while I'm working on the current one (who knows how long that will last? A good long time, I hope...) although my fabric stash is getting perilously low and I anticipate there will be a quilt sometime down the line with colors that make absolutely no sense together, but are all I have left...

I will probably need to travel back to Chicago next summer. Darn!
