Finally Finished!

Here it is, after 7 pm on SUNDAY, for goodness sake, and I can say I am finally finished with this week's quilt. Or last week's, if you wanna be picky.

Where's the picture? I'm gonna let Terry take it with his camera because it's another one of those difficult to capture the colors quilts. But, boy! What a week! I had to replace my iron because I realized that some of the problems I keep having with my fabric staying fused was not due to inexperience on my part, but to the fact that I had a whimpy iron. So, I got a great new one by Tefal, and it has ceramic on the sole plate, which makes it glide so nicely and easily. Plus, it gets a lot hotter.
And on top of that, the back fell off the office chair I use in my sewing room. So now I have a stool. On 5 wheels. I actually like this better because it's more comfortable for some reason.

Anyway, the picture will be coming soon. But I want to alert you to a very funny animation I found online tonight. If you or anyone you know likes the Harry Potter books or movies, you gotta check out Potter Puppet Pals. Click on the Sexy Snape link or the Bothering Snape prompt. Very silly.

See you soon!

The Photo-Shopped Version

Well, we went through all this fuss and rigamaroll to get the coloring right on this quilt on Terry's laptop. Then he emailed the image to me on the desktop, and my monitor made it look all weird. Dark, really. So there you go.
But really, his camera is superior to mine, with or without photoshop, so I should just let him take the blog pictures.

I'm working away at quilt #3...stay tuned.

Harlequin

Completed January 11, 2007
approx. 30 inches square

I can't believe what I can get done when I put my mind to it and chase everybody out of my studio! I am so thrilled!
...I could get used to this feeling.

Here are some details of the quilting, which I did with the feed dogs up.

First I sketched the quilting idea out on the actual quilt top with a sliver of soap. Then I went for it. It's like a traditional quilting pattern, I think, but I liked how it fit the fabric design, so I went with it. Not every quilt needs to be stippled, right?

I am always so pleased when this works nicely:

I know that seems vain, but it is tough to do!

So, anyway, this is the first of "make one a week" quilts for 2007. And it's only Thursday! And I made a chicken this week, too! I think I like alternating a quilt with some other project, back and forth, but only if the chicken stands on its own! Grrrr!

The Year's First Creation

Chink

I am quite frustrated with this project because the pattern (Butterick) clearly shows the chicken STANDING. Mine wont stand unless it's leaning. What a disappointment.

Not to be completely defeated, I threw this together this evening.

It's not fused yet, I was only playing around, but I'm likin' it!
